Dear Max
It’s been fascinating and a real joy witnessing not only your view of life, but what you want to do in it one day when you’re grown up.
Your career choices more or less mirror what you’re interested in at any given time. Here’s what you’ve wanted to be, as far as I can remember it, in order.
1. Truck driver
2. Tow truck driver
3. Fireman
4. Rubbish truck driver
5. Doctor
6. Dentist
7. Doctor (this has been a recurring theme – you used to take your “doctor’s box” (first-aid kit) with you to school to help anyone who needed it. Mostly you dished out lots of plasters and care
8. Helicopter rescue pilot
9. Pilot

Currently you’re going through a huge plane phase, and you ask me aviation questions that I need to constantly Google. You look at pictures, play on apps, and are sticking printouts of SAA plans on your pinboard. You want me to go to “adult pilot school” one day so that we can be co-pilots, on SAA and British Airways only, according to your wishes.
I love how you dream, and I love how you see your future. May you always soar, may you clutch onto possibilities, and may your dreams be in the clouds, with your grounded feet reaching them.
Love you, captain,
Your co-pilot,
Mom

Too cute! Love the way he falls asleep with the plane – Nicky does that with his cars.
