Dear Max
A few weeks ago LG offered me the chance to take part in an experience (the #LGExperience), any experience, that I would document with an LG smartphone. It took me about three seconds (okay, maybe just two) to say yes – I have a G2 phone which I reviewed highly, and here was a chance to choose and experience something cool.
LG liked the idea of a mom-and-kid getaway, so I invited Aviva and Levi, and Jeanette and Jonathan with us. Let me say here that it’s pretty remarkable that as moms we get on well as friends, and that the three of you boys are a great trio. It’s something I value so much, and it’s one of the best things to come out of school.
And so our organising began, via our Whatsapp group for something that suited our diaries, interests and budget and after much Googling, emailing establishments and replies of “sorry, we’re fully booked”, we opted for a night at Maropeng Hotel at the Cradle of Humankind, followed by a day at the museum and the Wonder Caves.
And oh what a time we had.
There was driving
We had a cool drive in Aviva’s new car where we played “I Spy”, snacked (there was no shortage with these two Jewish moms), played and set “rules” for the time away – no fighting, no competitiveness, and no shouting.
There was beautiful scenery
There was play
Disclaimer: While it looks like you only played on the iPad, I promise there was running around, hide and seek, boardgames and swimming too.
PS: The three of you shared two iPads amazingly well, and there were less fights over them than one would expect (only three).
There was bonding
There was eating and drinking
There were selfies
There were my friends creating LG branding
Disclaimer: This was unscripted and unasked-for.
Bless my friends!
There was an amazing night’s sleep
There was running
There was learning and adventure

There was shopping

And then there was us
More significant than anything our weekend offered, were the people who shared it with us…
Thanks Max and our new friends for a very special time and fuelling new memories that we will hopefully repeat, or else speak about them over wine one day.
Thanks to LG for the experience, for connecting us this way, and for the tool with which to share our getaway.
xx
