Dear Max
A couple of weeks ago, my friend Nicki was jokingly saying how before she was a mom, she couldn’t handle the smell of vomit, but now she was a pro (sorry if you’re squeamish about this topic).
And this got me thinking about all those other things we learn as moms, ie not just the loving and giving, but the day-to-day “skills” (I use this word loosely) we pick up. So what have I become “adept” (I use this word loosely too) at?
– Getting dressed with one arm while you’re attached while holding you in the other arm.
– Feeding myself breakfast with my right hand, while feeding you breakfast with my left hand.
– Applying makeup and straightening hair with one hand, while holding you with.
– Being vomited, pooped and wee’d on without flinching.
– Having my hair pulled and eyeballs poked without flinching.
– Seeing my shoes and jewellery played with, and not really being bothered.
– Being climbed on and tackled without feeling pain.
– “Singing” songs to you. Am not sure though if singing is the right term as I’m not convinced I can keep a tune, but hey, you still seem to like it.
– Running and pushing you in your jogging pram up a hill (I sometimes need to walk though).
– Being silly and giggly with you, and not caring a single bit.
– Riding on the merry-go-round with you and not wanting to vom like I used to.
– Being able to multitask much more effectively and efficiently (eg working on the computer and reading you a book, or sending an email via my phone and carrying you).
It’s a start, and I’m sure I’ll be gaining “prowess” at more things down the line (am really hoping that dancing, throwing and catching a ball, and being able to skip on a rope are among them).
x Mighty Mom
PS: Speaking of an education, you are loving playschool. This is your second week, and I think you’ve adjusted well. You still cry for a few minutes when I drop you off, but then you are found a distraction soon. Kim has been BBMing me awesome pics of you during the day 🙂

Multitasking is the understatement of the century! I find it incredible how we manage to do SO many things at the same time!

PS: And thanks for the mention 🙂
Oh yeah! And here’s another one that I’m sure I’m not alone in… having my bra, boobs, fat rolls, pantie line exposed in public as Ava grabs and investigates every part of my anatomy in public!
