Many tears, Whatsapp messages, quiet hours and longings later, and you’re home from your hol!
I anticipated a lot of separation anxiety and adjustment, but it wasn’t as bad as I expected. You battled a little to come home with me, but after about two minutes and two crane sightings, you had found your groove with me again. And I felt like my missing limb had been re-attached.
We had a great night – sushi, ice cream, a blue and green food coloured bath with mom, Lego building, puzzle construction and storytime. And just to remind me that motherhood and kids are unpredictable, you had a massive vomit in your bed (“I drank too much milk”). Poor guy.
Despite asking for sushi at around 3am, and then firmly telling me you weren’t going to school at about 5am, you finally got excited to go back, and tottered off.
Am so bloody happy you’re back.
