Kids’ birthday cakes are always the best…

February 20, 2012

Dear Max

On Saturday we went to Daniel’s third birthday party which had a superhero theme. I went into Sowearto in Rosebank the day before looking for something awesome to fit the theme, and it was a little Tee with Nelson Mandela’s face that screamt “superhero”.

As is usual these days when arriving at a new place, you were a bit niggly and a bit unsettled, but then soon found your groove and party shoes. You loved the swing, insisted on eating some vegetables off the “adults” food table, and defended your toy truck whenever some child tried to take it.

I love watching you at parties. I’m proud that you’re not *that* child who digs his hand prematurely in the cake, throws food around, pops balloons or starts opening presents. It’s early days, but signs show that you hopefully won’t be that kid.

And what is a kid’s party without a cool cake? You loved it, and even ate the icing off someone’s leftovers. That’s my boy…

With a Mom like you and a nature like his – I too doubt he will ever be THAT kid!
