As moms, we do what we can to get our kids to fall asleep easily, or to sleep through the night.
The other night, we were in Melrose Arch after a massive tantrum that ended in you saying “car, car, car”. I wasn’t going to argue lest another tantrum ensue – we headed to Melrose Arch where you love running around, scoping out the reads in Exclusive Books and checking out the light.
And when I say “run around”, I mean run around. You run. Fast. So that even when I run alongside or after you causes me shortness of breath. You not only love it, but guess what, it tires you out. When we got home, you wanted to go to sleep almost immediately, and mostly slept through the night.
So last night, you donned your red Shoeshoes, and off we went through our quiet suburb at 8pm, running through the streets with Gina. As you run, you smile. As you run, I smile breathlessly. You marvel at the lights, the stars and the parked cars you see. You say hi to the dogs at the gates. And you run, even up the short hill to our house.
And when we got home, you read a bit, and then went straight to sleep.
PS: No animals or toddlers were harmed during this excursion
