Dear Max
I used to think that pride in being a parent was all about your child getting awards, degrees, colours, certificates, stars and accolades. But even though you’re not even two, I know that pride goes beyond that, and I’m feeling an enormous amount right now in you.
It’s in the way you love people.
It’s in the way you give people kisses, hugs, high fives, waves and “sharps”.
It’s in the way that you remind so strong and cool, despite the huge changes you’ve been going through lately.
It’s in the way you bound into school with confidence, and just as confidently run out to greet whoever is fetching you.
It’s in the way you play nice at school and around other kids.
It’s in the way you are happy to share.
It’s in the way you make people smile.
It’s in the way you so easily envelop people into your world, and hand.
It’s growing. And I cannot imagine that any colours, stars or stripes will glow brighter than the pride I have for you for just being. You.
